Servicing and Oil Change

We offer servicing and oil changes
Need an oil change in Saginaw County, MI? Or, perhaps you’re looking for a place to service your vehicle. At Davis Auto Repair we have been serving vehicles and providing oil changes for over three decades at our family-owned and operated shop.

Oil changes
Probably the most important routine maintenance investments, if we had to pick, is an oil change. Schedule one every three months or 3,000 miles (newer vehicles can go 5,000 miles or more.) This will ensure your engine lasts longer. You should also have your oil checked monthly.

Moving components get worn down by the heat created from parts rubbing together. Oil (or a synthetic) minimizes damage to extend the life of your car.  We do oil changes by appointment. We service all makes and models.

When to have your oil changed:

  • The engine makes pinging, knocking, or other noises that don’t sound good
  • Oil is dirty
  • ‘Check Oil’ or ‘Maintenance Required’ light is on

Tune-up time!
Wear and tear is part of owning a vehicle. But you can extend how long your vehicle lasts by getting a tune-up.

Maintaining fluid levels
Have your fluids topped off, including oil, radiator, transmission, power steering, windshield washer, and brake fluid, as needed, to prevent damage to your ride.

Filters
Filters should be changed between 15,000 and 30,000 miles. This includes air, oil, fuel, and cabin air filters.

Spark plugs
Spark plugs should be changed every 100,000 miles.

Belts and hoses
Like most car parts, belts and hoses are important. The belt’s rubber becomes brittle and cracks. At that point it can fail anytime. If your engine overheats, the cylinder heads can become damaged, which is a an expensive repair you should try to prevent. Hoses are inspected for softness, swelling, hardening cracks, chafing, and heat damage.

Brakes
Have your brakes inspected, including rotors, brake pads, shoes, and brake lines.

Tires
Tires should be rotated every 6,000 miles. Your tires should also be checked to make sure they are at the recommended air pressure and tread levels.
